Golden Evening
Late afternoon beach walks and golden glowing sunsets. How beautiful it is to let that light sink in. I have re-created a magical sunset viewed from the back of the sand dunes at Semaphore South Australia.

On early morning walks I sometimes stop to admire this spectacular tree bursting with globes of orange flowers….turns out its Eucalyptus phoenicea and is usually found in Northern Australia. Such a stunner…I had to paint it!

Golden Beauties
One day while sitting in the studio, looking out into the backyard and wondering what to paint next I noticed the stunning golden torch helicona flower waving to me at the open window. Suddenly awakened from my daydream, I thought: Yes ok I can paint you!
Botanical name is Heliconia psittacorum x spathocircinata, commonly known as ‘Golden Torch’. As I’ve found, if you allow them to run rampant they will happily spread out into the garden and start peaking into the windows.
